OPPOSING ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION
• Opposed Drivers Licenses for Illegal immigrants saying that
“Granting driver’s licenses to those who have broken the law is a slap
in the face to the millions of immigrants who played by the rules and
worked hard to enjoy the benefits of citizenship.”
• Authored the Voter Identification Act to fight voter fraud by
requiring voters to show photo identification at their polling places in
order to cast a ballot.
• Opposed legislation allowing illegal immigrant students to get
financial aid at public colleges and universities.
• Opposed giving local governments more power to increase taxpayer
financed benefits to illegal immigrants.
• Consistently voted for legislation that will
strengthen the state’s economy, create jobs and lessen government
regulation that stifles businesses.
•Received a 100% rating from the California Chamber of Commerce in 2005, 2007 and 93% in 2006.
•Received a 100% rating from the California Manufacturers and Technology Association in 2005 and 2007.
• Past chairman of the U.S. Pacific Rim Chamber of

it was Bob’s position as chair of his church's building program that
gave him the first taste of public service through presentations before
the city's planning commission and City Council.

• Co-authored Senator McClintock’s legislation to
prohibit public entities from taking private property by eminent
domain.”

on the powers of eminent domain.
MAKING OUR COMMUNITIES SAFER
• Legislative Co-Chair, YES on 83 - Jessica’s Law.
• Supported the Sexual
Predator Punishment and Control Act to significantly add to the
punishment for sex crimes.
• Jessica’s Law will
strengthen existing statutes by requiring sex offenders to wear
electronic monitors after they are released into our communities. The
monitors will use GPS satellite technology, which will add significantly
to our ability to protect our families. The law also will ban convicted
sex offenders from living within 2,000 feet of any school or park.
• Jessica’s Law also will
turn kidnapping with intent to sexually assault into a “one strike”
offense, meaning the perpetrator will be put behind bars for 25 years to
life. The legislation contains other tough penalties, including: longer
prison sentences for those who use drugs to incapacitate their victims,
and a provision that allows prosecutors to charge possession of child
pornography as a felony, rather than just a misdemeanor.
• Supported measure to prohibit registered sex
offenders on parole from having contact with victim or victim’s family.
• Supported new law requiring disclosure of
person’s status as a sex offender registrant when applying for
employment.
• Authored measure to toughen penalties for
criminals who alter their vehicles for the purpose of drug sales and
illegal gun possession.
• Authored measure to improve training of law
enforcement volunteers so they can better assist police departments or
sheriff’s offices during emergencies.
• Successfully fought to stop the state from
housing developmentally disabled criminal offenders in this area. The
state was schedule to bring "forensic" clients into the state facility
that borders Diamond Bar.
• Supported increasing the statute of limitations
for production of child pornography to put more offenders behind bars.
• Supported new law adding identity
theft-related offenses to the list of offenses that may qualify as a
"pattern of criminal gang activity" for purposes of the enhanced
penalties for gang-related crimes under the Street Terrorism Enforcement
and Prevention Act.
IMPROVING OUR SCHOOLS
• Co-authored measure that shifts more education
money into the classroom by contracting out non-educational services.
• Co-authored measure establishing a career
tech coordinating council to identify state and federal career tech
programs and make recommendations to the Governor.
• Authored legislation resulting in over $500
million more funding for public charter schools.
• Authored legislation giving parents more choice
over which public school they can enroll their children
